Words Bureau Systems Software Development

Words have been providing the very highest quality computer bureau services and designing hardware and software systems for nearly 35 years for managing national and international events for corporate and professional bodies, here and abroad.

The market changed in the 1990s and we moved away from developing systems for sale and further developed bureau and rental systems to match the demands of major clients.

In Spring 2016, we will be releasing a NEW Badging Database System, as a turnkey package, that fully integrates a very sophisticated event related database with plastic card badges.

  • 2011 onwards - Develop Online Stand Ordering System for medical conferences alongside Online Badge Ordering System to allow exhibitors to automatically book different types of stands at different rates based on their membership status and complete their free exhibitor badge allocation and purchase any additional exhibitor badges/lunches required.

  • 2008 onwards-Server Synchronisation System designed to be part of a support package for a BESPOKE auction house system. Subject to broadband service, it enables the system to be ‘live’ at the auction venue and Head Office. If web access is denied, the auction runs locally and when the line is restored all the servers automatically synchronise.

  • 2005 onwards- Online Abstract Submission, Judging and Marking. Removes huge time constraints and labour content from abstract management and greatly improves communication regarding progress.

  • 2005 onwards- Online Post-Event Survey linked to Online CPD. Once delegates complete the online post-event survey, they are automatically taken to their personalised CPD certificate, which can be printed out for their own records. Used at educational conferences (e.g. the Royal College of Ophthalmologists). Organisations get accurate feedback from nearly ALL delegates and the latter get accurate CPD certificates shortly after the event that they can print and access whenever they like.

  • 2000 onwards- Sophisticated Handheld Systems for room/session control and exhibitor data capture. Option to tailor handhelds for staff name and enquiry quantifiers.

  • 2000 onwards - Design of a 1m range, non-contact, Proximity Card System for Visitor Tracking & Live Messaging for around 500 of the BAe’s MD's (in Head Office & Airfield). Used at international events including Paris and Farnborough Air Shows and DSEI Defence events.

  • 1995 onwards- Design of Touchscreen Questionnaires for conferences (e.g. IBM). Also for car press and dealer days. Used with touch-screens or handheld PDA's enabling organisers to instantly show scores compared to the competition for companies including Jaguar and Hyundai.

  • 1993 onwards - Design of In/Out Room Control System so that VIP's and Organisers could check to see “who is in the room”, along with being able to control the room limit to suit fire regulations, used by corporate clients such as Ford for their International Press event at the Frankfurt Motorshow.

  • 1991 onwards - Introduction of Messaging System to allow delegates and exhibitors to leave messages for visitors, exhibitors, speakers and organisers (who could reply), all activated by delegates using our uniquely encoded badge.

  • 1990 onwards - Developed Plastic Badging Magstripe hardware and software using all three magstripe tracks to allow room session and seating control for free and ‘paid for’ seminars. Delegates could now be tracked and controlled at events using a single encoded badge for multi-day events. Clients included Reed Exhibitions (World Travel Market), Haymarket Exhibitions (Autosport International), automotive roadshows (General Motors).

  • 1988 onwards - Creation of Management software for managing conferences, membership and training events for trade associations such as RIBA and UKCMG, Medical Institutions, Royal Colleges and the Home Office.

  • 1986 onwards - Introduction of Plastic ‘Credit Card’ Badging with Encoded Magstripes, first used at the new Business Design Centre, Islington for their Showroom tenants and many trade exhibitions in London/Provinces.

  • 1981 onwards - Paper/Paper Card Badge Production printing large, readable, characters for use at exhibitions and conferences. Legal (rapid, accurate, will processing), accounting, database & statistics management and very high quality direct mail services (e.g. for Shell and DFDS).
